Description |

Tunbridge Wells is one of Kent’s most prosperous centres. It is located some 13 miles south of the M25 via the A21. North Farm Lane is some 2.5 miles north east
of the Town Centre and just over 1 mile from the A21. Access to the A21
from the site is via North Farm Lane and Longfield Road.

The site is zoned within the Tunbridge Wells Borough Local Development Framework August 2006 under Policy No ED4a as an area including Decimus Park for low rise B1 (light industrial) B2 (general industrial) and B8 (warehousing uses). We have discussed the site with the Planning Officer Linda Middlemiss who advised they would ideally like a high quality development for which there is consent but are pragmatic and recognise the economic situation has changed and finance for such a scheme would be difficult to secure. The site is on the edge of Outstanding Natural Beauty so the height of any buildings is an issue and needs to incorporate suitable landscaping. They accepted the argument for less dense development with large yard, open storage uses (sui generis use), extending the tip/recycling area, waste type uses and other Micro Ready uses although not zoned and it would be difficult to refuse such an application although outcome would depend upon the actual use, job creation etc and any application would be considered under its own merits.
