The summary of the planning history shows the site originally had consent
for a gas sales and service centre in 1960’s/70’s obtaining consent from a
highways depot to a centre for the mentally handicapped in 1985. During
the 1990’s two consents were given for 20 & 25m telecommunication masts.
We have discussed the property with Tonbridge & Malling BC & understand it
is outside the built confines with their main concerns being the visual
amenity and the highways. We understand the visual amenity can be dealt
with in a straight forward manner. In respect to the highways it is the
turning from the A20 and then into the site is of concern.
We understand they will not allow residential retail or any non
residential care use due to the highways.
The reason the B2 was given is because the KCC use was a B2 rather than a
D1 use.
Consideration would be given to change of use to open storage if the
highways concerns and visual amenity were addressed. Interested parties
